Health Care Reform

Health Care Reform in the United States has a long history. Reforms have often been proposed but few have been implemented. In 2010, landmark reform was passed through two federal statutes: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), signed March 23, 2010, and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (H.R. 4872), which amended the PPACA and became law on March 30, 2010.

Dramatic changes to the health care landscape have been ushered in by the passage of these federal statutes. The enormity of this law presents a daunting challenge in understanding potential impacts to your organization as well as your employees. The interpretation and implementation of major legislation such as PPACA will bring legal challenges as you continue to work to achieve your business objectives. Having a trusted advisor during these times will be important for organizations as they traverse this new law.

BLA’s approach is not to stick our heads in the sand and let our clients fend for themselves. We have actively undertaken new and industry-leading initiatives to assure our clients that we have the information and expertise to guide them and meet meet their expectations.

To assist our clients BLA provides the following services:

  • BLA has hired a full-time Health Care Reform Officer to increase awareness of the law and the impact
  • BLA provides professional consulting on the law and how it will affect you and your employees
  • BLA provides regular Health Care Reform Updates outlining the most up-to-date information available
  • BLA has developed our own state-of-the-art financial and analytical modeling tools that will help you predict the impact that Health Care Reform will have on your health care expenses and your company’s bottom line
  • BLA provides access to up-to-date guidance

As it stands today, many of this law’s provisions have been changed, delayed or removed, placing a high degree of uncertainty on the future direction the law might take. As more and more changes take place, much of the nation- including employers, health care providers, consultants and the insurance industry in general- are left scratching their heads in anticipation of what’s coming next.

Due to the current political landscape, there is uncertainty regarding the future of this law, making it difficult to anticipate the future direction. At BLA we will be staying on top of all developments to ensure our clients receive the newest up-to-date information as it becomes available.

We are always committed to providing our clients with the best resources in the insurance industry. As our mission statement says, our guiding principle is “service first”, as we believe the real difference in quality lies in delivering personalized service beyond the product.
