Health Care Reform

Health Care Reform in the United States has a long history. Reforms have often been proposed but few have been implemented. In 2010, landmark reform was passed through two federal statutes: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), signed March 23, 2010, and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (H.R. 4872), which amended the PPACA and became law on March 30, 2010.

Dramatic changes to the health care landscape have been ushered in by the passage of these federal statutes. The enormity of this law presents a daunting challenge in understanding potential impacts to your organization as well as your employees. The interpretation and implementation of major legislation such as PPACA will bring legal challenges as you continue to work to achieve your business objectives. Having a trusted advisor during these times will be important for organizations as they traverse this new law.

As it stands today, many of this law’s provisions have been changed, delayed or removed, placing a high degree of uncertainty on the future direction the law might take.
